The ex-frontman of several popular Canadian ex-bands, it seems Rob Szabo has
produced his best work by branching out on his own. This double EP- presented
as two entirely separate works, that happen to be sharing CD space warns that
it is not to be listened to in the same sitting. The first "side" is
a catchy, expertly written powerpop piece crackling with excitement and
experience. Szabo's no amateur, and his songwriting clearly telegraphs it. The
latter three tunes are acoustic, and reminiscent of some of the finer
folk/country of early Americana. Each EP has its own feel and personality,
sure, but the combination of the two results in a very personal sensitive
glimpse at the diversity of a skilled artist.
