ROB SZABO-LIKE
A METAPHOR (Basement Bar)
For his second solo album, local hero Rob Szabo hedges his
bets by revisiting some material that some fans will recognize as dating back to
the late, lamented area supergroup Plasticine. No that anyone should
complain, as lost classics like Beautiful and Incandescent more than deserve
another kick at the can. And Szabo's pen is far from dry, as new songs
like Good Son and Breaking Even help secure his rep as one of the area's finest
songwriters, whether he's rocking with a full band or alone with an acoustic
guitar. Sure he's been around forever - but he keeps getting better.
Find out why at Rob Szabo's CD release show at the Starlight in Waterloo this
Saturday.
